3rd grade Tree Prints

3rd graders learned about artist, Gustav Klimt, and his famous "Tree of Life" painting. Students know all about positive and negative space after making their tree collographs. Students used traditional printmaking techniques to create a symmetrical print and then titled their artwork like professional artists.

  1. These are great. I think it's really nice that you had them think of a title for their artwork...it adds so much. Also, in your post you mentioned that they also made tree collographs, do you have a link to that post?

  2. I was referring to the plate they used for the positive/negative prints shown above. They glued foam pieces to matboard to make the tree design, then printed from that.
